Son père, Tony Gullage, a joué aux côtés de Dr. John ou Henry Butler, sa grand-mère, Sister Alberta Gullage, enregistrait déjà du gospel dans les années 60. Il est même apparenté à la légende Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter. Chez les Gullage, la musique n’est pas un métier — c’est un héritage.</p><p style= margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.93rem; box-sizing: inherit; overflow-wrap: break-word; >À 12 ans, Sonny écrit sa première chanson, touché par la marée noire du golfe du Mexique. Cette maturité précoce ne l’a jamais quitté. Son style mêle une sensibilité rare à une compréhension instinctive des émotions humaines. Son jeu de piano raconte autant que ses mots. Le premier album « Go Be Free », coproduit par Tom Hambridge (producteur de Buddy Guy), est lancé le 23 août. Il y invite le flamboyant Christone “Kingfish” Ingram — preuve que le futur du blues se construit ensemble.
